TRESTLEBOARD

As I have said, the Trestleboard fund is depleted. We will sell business card advertisements for $35.00 per year and take donations of $10.00 for a Trestleboard Booster page. Please look at your situation and give serious thought to assisting us with the presentation of a Trestleboard in the year 2000. We have had one $10.00 contribution since last month.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1 . The Belleview Christmas Parade and decoration of the Lodge with Christmas lights was a success. I thank each individual who contributed the time and effort necessary to see the job well done.

2. The Christmas party on December 10th was also successful. We had approximately 50 guests and everyone enjoyed themselves. I would like to thank each individual who donated materials or money to ensure we had what was needed. Without your support, this could not have been accomplished.

3. New officers were elected on December 9, 1999 and the installation will have taken place on December 30, 1999. The appointed officers will be added to the 2000 Lodge Officers list when those appointments are made.

4. We have found a replacement for the ice machine. It is not a brand new machine but guaranteed to be in good working order and relatively new. We should not have the repair problems that we have had with our current inoperable ice machine. We are still attempting to raise money through individual donations. We have had contributions from $10 to $100 but we are still short of there required moneys needed. If you can contribute any amount, please call Steve Whaley at 347-6547 or the Secretary. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.

5. We have found two Lodge Brothers who have agreed to repair the soffit and fascia on the back side of the Lodge. They have requested assistance from the Brothers of the Lodge when the actual work is to be done. Their charge will be for materials only. We can't beat this price. Volunteer your assistance when and if you can. The work should be started in early January.

6. Belleview Masonic Lode #95 has a new web page thanks to Brother John Pisani. The address is http:\\www.fsites.com\bellviewlodge95\index.htm. Check it out and let us know what you think about it.

7. BROTHERS - Remember the Lodge Trust Fund in your wills and your gifts. For more information, contact the Secretary at 307-0977.

8. The December breakfast resulted in 57 paying customers. We are on the upswing. Continue to support the Lodge breakfast.

WORDS FROM THE WORSHIPFUL MASTER

Bread and Butter

A small town baker bought his butter from a local farmer. One day he weighed the butter and concluded that the farmer had been reducing the amount in the packages but charging the same so the baker accused the farmer of fraud.

In court the judge asked the farmer "Do you have measuring weights?" "No sir," replied the farmer. How then do you manage to weigh the butter that you sell? The farmer answered "When the baker began buying his butter from me, I thought I'd better get my bread from him. I have been using his one pound loaf as the weight for the butter I sell. If the weight of the butter is wrong, he has only himself to blame."

Making hasty, unjust judgments about others is sin. The Pharisees of Jesus' day seemed to be especially adept at this. They would try to elevate themselves by tearing down and slandering people's character. Not only is this a sign of pride and self satisfaction, but it is certain that we will be judged in a similar manner. Jesus said "With what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." (Mt. 7:2). What is the measure you use?

Fraternally,

Jimmie Roberts
