Trestleboard

July 2006

From The South
Brother Paul Sullivan
Junior Warden

Brothers, I am hoping that you will join us at one
of our second meetings of the month. The meeting is between thirty to forty-five minutes long, and then we go into the dining room for a pretty good meal if I do say so myself. We are joined by our ladies who often help me with the cooking chores, because 1 can't leave my chair to go out and get some things ready. Their help is very much appreciated, since I don't have any stewards. It is in this casual setting that we enjoy ourselves and talk things out that are either too long our complicated to deal with in our regular meeting time. Mostly though, we just have good conversation and a lot of fun. We have enjoyed the company of many visiting brethren who have been here so much that we feel like they are members of this Lodge.

We all feel that this would be a great way for some of our members to get to meet us new guys, and rea-quaint yourselves with some of the 'OLD TIMERS". We really need you back in Lodge, and for someone like me, this would be a great opportunity to meet you and get some of your ideas to improve the Lodge. There are young new members and two young men who are Entered Apprentices who come to the second meeting which we are opening in the Ea Degree so they can sit in Lodge and become familiar with how the Lodge is opened, etc., and to meet the brothers. This has worked out very well, and they are already involved rather than waiting six to nine months to see what is going on. The Lodge is no longer just a bunch of "old farts: running the show.

We are trying to make changes to attract more members to attend Lodge. Come join us .

The Blue Lodge, under our present structure, which is governed by The Grand Lodge, cannot compete for membership, advertise its functions, nor do most of the things that other fraternal groups are able to do. Therefore, we rely on Masons and Masons alone for support in everything we do. Try to support your Lodge in any way you can, and in particular try to make one of our meetings, you might enjoy it.
